The island of Elba, a green oasis that emerges from the waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea, is the largest of the seven major islands that make up the Tuscan Archipelago and the third largest in Italy. It is the largest remaining portion of the ancient stretch of land that connected the Italian peninsula to Corsica. Its territory, very varied and populated by numerous species of flora and fauna, is divided into several parts according to the conformation and the geological era in which it was formed and, also for these reasons, is protected and enhanced by the National Park of 'Tuscan Archipelago, whose headquarters are located in Portoferraio, the largest center of the island.
