Info sull'evento
The term Pala derives from the name that was used locally to indicate the grassy banks and slopes located at the base of the chain.
By extension it then went on to define the entire mountain group. The first climbers, mostly British, after having made the first excursions and opened some routes, in their memoirs originally indicated the mountain complex with the terms of the Primiero Dolomites or the Pale Group .
Only later, with the spread of the practice of mountain tourism and the construction of carriage roads that favored the growth of San Martino di Castrozza, did they become universally known in the mountaineering world as Pale di San Martino .
The Pale di San Martino (also called " Gruppo delle Pale ") are the largest ontuous group of the Dolomites, with about 240 km² of surface, located between eastern Trentino and Veneto (province of Belluno), in the area between Primiero ( valleys of Cismon, Canali, V al Travignolo), Valle del Bioisn (Falcade, Canale d'Agordo) and Agordino.
